La Bohème

Lyrical scenes in four paintings by Giacomo Puccini

This representation of La Bohème is a version absolutely faithful to the original writing, which allows itself only one freedom, that of filling the spaces left empty between one act and another: an abandoned stage, objects, trunks, fragments of scenes piled up here and there . But suddenly the scene comes to life: evoked by a reciting voice, the figures that once inhabited that space suddenly come back to life. Stagehands, technicians, singers, orchestra members, choristers, extras, with rapid movements resume their places. Each of them follows their own path. We feverishly prepare for the performance. The narrator tells about all of them. The roles on stage, the roles behind the scenes. The tale of life mixes with the tale of Bohème…
